Recipients of CalFresh get electronic rewards each month that work similarly to bank debit cards and may be used to buy a range of nutritious goods.

The program’s objective is to improve the health and overall well-being of eligible people and households by guaranteeing their access to basic dietary requirements.

CalFresh is overseen at the state level in California by the California Department of Social Services, with local administration handled by County Welfare Departments. The federal programme is administered by the Food and Nutrition Service of the United States Department of Agriculture.

You may purchase a variety of food items meant for human consumption with CalFresh advantages, including bread, cereal, fruits, vegetables, meat, and fish.

Hot foods produced in-store, non-food goods like soap or toilet paper, alcoholic drinks, tobacco, vitamins, medications, and pet food are among the exceptions that do apply.

Notably, home gardeners may buy plants and seeds with CalFresh advantages.
