CalFresh January Payments: Dates and Figures for the Coming Month

According to figures from May 2023, more than 5.2 million people in California took part in the program.

CalFresh January Payments: The CalFresh program, which is also known as SNAP in other states, is very important for millions of people and families in California.

According to figures from May 2023, more than 5.2 million people in California took part in the program. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) pays for all benefits and half of the program’s running costs. Some local governments and the state of California pay the other half.

People who get help with money get an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card, which works like a bank card.

The amount of your CalFresh payment depends on things like the number of people living in your home and your monthly net income after certain reductions.

A household with one person can get up to $291 a month, a household with two people up to $536, and a household with three people up to $766. The allowance goes up with the number of people living in the home. For every extra person over eight years old, $219 is added to the income.

When do CalFresh rewards show up?

The first 10 days of every month, CalFresh benefits sent to EBT cards come. The exact date is based on the last digit of each beneficiary’s case number.

  • The payment will be made on January 1 if the case number ends in 1.
  • If the case number ends in 2, the money will be sent on that date.
  • If the case number ends in 3, you will be paid on that date.
  • Payment will be made on 4 if the case number ends in 4.
  • The payment will be made on day 5 if the case number ends in 5.
  • The payment will be 6 if the case number ends in 6.
  • The payment will be 7 if the case number ends in 7.
  • The payment will be 8 if the case number ends in 8.
  • If the case number ends in 9, the reward will also be 9.
  • If the case number ends in 0, 10 will be paid out.

What will be different about CalFresh in 2024?

Many U.S. states have been making changes to the SNAP program since September. However, California had until October 31, 2024, to make changes to the work standards.

By November 1, 2024, people between the ages of 18 and 54 who don’t live with a child or other relatives will have to show proof of at least 80 hours of work each month to keep their CalFresh benefits.
