CalFresh Recertification June: Find out the deadline to renew your food stamp benefits

CalFresh, California's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, provides food assistance to low-income individuals and families, requiring proof of income, family size, and spending.

CalFresh Recertification June: CalFresh is California’s version of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). It helps people and families with low incomes get food. To be eligible for CalFresh, you need to show proof of your income, family size, and spending.

In general, people can only get help if they make a certain amount of money. Individuals and families who meet these requirements should be able to get help from this service.

CalFresh benefits are valid for six months from the date of application, if granted. Recipients are required to submit a Semi-Annual Report (SAR7) describing any changes to their household after six months.

As per Marca, people who are receiving benefits must apply for recertification by the 15th of the month after their certification time ends if they want to keep getting benefits. For example, if your certification time ends in June 2024, you have until June 15, 2024, to send in your recertification application.

CalFresh benefits must be renewed daily and do not add up over time. Recipients must report any changes to their home income or make-up to maintain their eligibility.

You can reapply for CalFresh online, by mail, or in person at the county’s social services office. Even if the household has already been approved, the application process still needs full information about the household members, their income, their expenses, and anything else that is important.

You have one year from the date of your first entry to send in a Recertification Report. This process can also be done online, just like the first application, and any changes made in the last six months must be reported.

If I don’t recertify for CalFresh, what will happen?

You have until the end of your certification period to submit your recertification application to keep your CalFresh benefits. Your benefits can be temporarily stopped if your application is submitted after the deadline.

If the application is submitted more than thirty days after your certification term has ended, you will have to reapply and complete a new application.
