CalFresh Renewal: What can you do if you missed this month deadline?

The County will send you an interview appointment letter after receiving your application.

CalFresh Renewal: In the event that you are unsure of what to do if you missed this month’s CalFresh deadline, we at the County Welfare Department (County) recognise that various forms of help may be required for each person in relation to the recertification application process.

It’s crucial to submit your recertification application and finish the interview before the end of your certification period if you want to keep getting CalFresh benefits. You may quickly fill out the recertification application online in many counties. Go to benefitscal.org to see if your county offers this option.

Please provide the most accurate response you can to each question on the recertification application. Start the recertification process by supplying your name, address, and signature, at the very least. Please read over your rights and duties before signing the application. You can send the signed application in person, by mail, fax, or online.

What comes next after submitting an application

The County will send you an interview appointment letter after receiving your application. Although in-person interviews can be arranged if needed, the majority of interviews take place over the phone. Please notify the County if you need special accommodations due to a disability.

In order to ascertain your eligibility and benefits for CalFresh, the County will evaluate the data you submitted in your application and ask further questions during the recertification interview.

Please present any required documentation of changes in circumstances during the interview to prevent delays in recertification. Changes in housing costs, household composition, or income may be examples of this. Please show up for the interview even if you don’t have all the requisite papers; the County might be able to help you get it.

CalFresh Renewal: Result of submitting an application after the deadline

In order to keep your CalFresh benefits uninterrupted, you must submit your recertification application before your certification period expires. You will have to reapply with the whole application if your application is received after the certification period has ended and is more than thirty days late.

You will continue to receive benefits on your Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card if your recertification is granted prior to the expiration of your certification term. To make food purchases, please use your EBT card and Personal Identification Number (PIN) as normal. If your EBT card is lost, stolen, or destroyed, call (877) 328-9677 or get in touch with the County right away. To get a list of places that accept EBT, go to snapfresh.org or ebt.ca.gov.
