California Middle Class Tax Refund Card: In California, the Middle Class Tax Refund (MCTR) program was created to give qualified citizens one-time payments to offset inflation. The goal of this program was to support middle-class families that were struggling to pay for daily needs, healthcare, and expensive housing.
Still, a large amount of the benefits aren’t being used, even after over 9.5 million debit cards loaded with return money were distributed. According to Marca, “more than one million debit cards, worth approximately $611 million in payments, had not yet been activated by their recipients as of January 2024.” This amount that hasn’t been spent shows how important it is for beneficiaries to know more about and comprehend the MCTR program.
The California Franchise Tax Board (FTB) is asking citizens to activate their MCTR debit cards to take advantage of the financial aid to which they are eligible to remedy this problem. To guarantee they receive their MCTR benefits, the FTB also exhorts people who have not received their cards to get in contact with the organization.
