Chapter 30 VA Benefits Pay Chart: What are your benefits based on your training?

The prices and prorated payment schedules for trade, vocational, and non-college degree programs are similar to those of higher education institutions, with the option of in-state tuition.

Chapter 30 VA Benefits: Veterans can seek education and training opportunities with the help of the Chapter 30 VA Benefits Pay Chart, which offers a detailed analysis of the benefits that are available to them.

Two important elements determine the monthly rate or payment amount: the type of education or training and the quantity of courses completed or the advancement made in apprenticeship programs or on-the-job training.

Veterans who meet certain criteria may not earn the full rate. These criteria include taking fewer courses, putting in fewer clock hours per week, engaging in an apprenticeship program, receiving on-the-job training, or serving fewer than three years continuously on active service.

On the other hand, people who have kickers or are part of the $600 Buy-Up program can get more money each month.

Social Security Benefits: How soon will you begin receiving a Social Security increase in 2024?

In what way does your training affect the rewards you receive?

The Montgomery GI Bill-Active Duty (MGIB-AD) rates, which are in effect from October 1, 2023, to September 30, 2024, provide different amounts depending on the type of institution for people who served for at least three consecutive years on active duty.

Higher education schools have different rates for full-time, 3/4-time, and 1/2-time enrollment. Partial-month attendance is compensated for prorated amounts. Veterans who have not resided in the state may be eligible for in-state tuition rates at public schools.

The prices and prorated payment schedules for trade, vocational, and non-college degree programs are similar to those of higher education institutions, with the option of in-state tuition.

Depending on the length of the training, apprentices and on-the-job trainees get different monthly payments. These payments get smaller as the training goes on. There are also distinct payment schedules for flights and correspondence instructions.

These are the “2-year” rates for people who served two to three years on active duty. The rates also apply to non-college degree programs, higher education institutions, apprenticeships, on-the-job training, correspondence training, and flight training.

Veterans can ask questions online through Ask VA or call 888-442-4551 (TTY: 711) if they would like further information or assistance interpreting the Chapter 30 VA Benefits Pay Chart.
