December SSA Double Payment: When will this month’s two Social Security Administration payments be sent?

In order to make sure that those who depend on the money can get it quickly and have a better start to 2024.

December SSA Double Payment: The January 2024 advance payment for the second December SSI payment is not more cash for citizens. Supplemental Security Income (SSI), one of the monthly benefits offered by the Social Security Administration (SSA), is one of the biggest sources of income for American individuals. In December 2023, SSI will be doubled for a unique cause.

The SSA has set up a strict schedule for distributing the monthly payments. Since SSI users’ benefits are typically disbursed on the first of the month, the first of two payments for December has already been made.

To avoid any delays for Americans receiving SSI, the January 1, 2024 payment is being shifted forward. As a result, the second payment that beneficiaries will get this month is slated for December 29.

The Social Security Administration raised the COLA for 2024 by 3.2 percent due to high rates of inflation; therefore, the second December payment will already represent the cost-of-living adjustment in the United States.

Why will there be a December payment from the SSA?

A few times a year, users of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) receive two payments each month; however, they are only advance payments and not additional funds.

By advancing the payment in December 2023, the SSA will make sure those who need it can get it quickly. Normally, they issue the payment on the 1st of every month, but if it falls on a holiday, they advance it to the last working day.

If a weekend or holiday falls on the regular payment date, your payment may not arrive on the first of every month.
