DWP Benefits Payment Dates for January 2024: Unveiling New Year Adjustments

A study found that people don't claim £19 billion in benefits because they don't know about them, can't get to them, or are afraid of being judged.

DWP Benefits Payment Dates: Even though it’s January 2024, the cost of living problem is still going on. It’s very important to know what perks you can get in the New Year.

Even though inflation has dropped to 3.9%, millions of families are still having trouble paying for the things they need. There has been a lot of writing in The Big Issue about how benefits and funds for the cost of living are not going far enough during this crisis.

But any extra money can save a life, and people must apply for benefits if they are qualified.

A study found that people don’t claim £19 billion in benefits because they don’t know about them, can’t get to them, or are afraid of being judged.

Here is everything you need to know about getting your benefits in the new year.

People should have gotten their benefits payments from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) during the New Year breaks. This includes how to find out if you might be qualified for benefits and when the cost of living payments will be made in 2024.

When will the DWP send me my January 2024 benefits?

Your date of payment will depend on the type of benefit you get and when you first started claiming it.

The DWP gives out universal credit every month. This page has more information about universal credit.

The state income, the personal freedom payment, the disability living allowance, the attendance allowance, and the pension credit are all paid every four weeks.

Tax payments (from HMRC), child benefit, and caregiver’s income are paid either once a week or every four weeks. It’s either every two weeks or every four weeks that you get your maternity pay.

People who get income support, employment and support allowance, or jobseeker’s allowance usually get them every two weeks.

When should I have gotten my New Year’s payments from the DWP?

It’s possible that you got your payment before January 2, 2024, if you were supposed to get your benefits on January 1, 2024.

People who were supposed to get a welfare payment on January 1 should have gotten it on December 29.

The payment you were supposed to get on January 2 should have arrived either on December 29 or on January 2 as planned (if you get universal credit, it’s January 2).

If you were meant to get your tax refunds on January 1 or 2, you should have been paid on December 29. In England and Northern Ireland only, you should have been paid on January 2 if you were supposed to be paid on January 3.

If your benefit payment doesn’t arrive on the due date, you should let the office that pays it know.

How can I find out if I can get benefits in January 2024?

You might be able to get more rewards and help with your income. Citizens Advice can help you if you don’t know where to start. They offer information and services to help people, and they can tell you what financial help you can get from the government.

You might be able to get benefits and tax credits if you are a parent, a young person, an older person, a soldier, or someone who is sick or impaired. One way to find out what benefits you can get is to use the organization Turn2Us’ benefits tool.

How to get help with the cost of living, such as cost of living payments, welfare, energy handouts, and more

If you can’t pay your energy bills because of the rising cost of living, here’s where you can get help.

The government’s Help for families page tells you what kinds of help you might be able to get, like cost of living payments. Here’s a list of all the cost of living aid that families can get.
