How long does it take for the application to be approved?

Processing begins once we receive your signed application and it typically takes 7 to 30 days to process a food assistance application.

According to Marca, expedited households may receive benefits within seven days if they meet certain criteria: having a monthly gross income and liquid assets both less than $150, having a monthly gross income plus liquid assets less than the household’s rent/mortgage plus utility costs, or being a destitute migrant or seasonal farmworker with liquid assets less than $100.

Applications for Medical Assistance and Temporary Cash Assistance, on the other hand, can take 30 to 45 days. Medical Assistance applications can take longer if they need to be reviewed for disability.
