Florida residents can expect SNAP benefits next year due to the implementation of the Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Florida SNAP 2025 Increase Date: Good news for people in Florida who will be getting Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits next year.
The Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for SNAP benefits was announced by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and began on October 1, 2024. The goal of this change is to help families with low incomes deal with the rising cost of living.
New maximum SNAP benefit amounts are now in effect as of October 1, 2024, for beneficiaries across Florida and the other 49 states, as well as the District of Columbia and U.S. territories.
These adjustments provide some financial relief to families for the 2025 fiscal year through increased benefits. In places like Alaska, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, where the cost of living is higher, recipients receive larger benefit amounts.
However, not all states will see increases. Hawaii is an exception, experiencing a lower adjustment, resulting in reduced maximum benefits.
Despite these changes, the increase helps most households stay on pace with inflation.
The following are the new maximum SNAP allotments following the COLA adjustment:
Every additional person in a household exceeding eight increases the monthly allotment by $220.
Your state or territory will determine when you begin to receive the increased benefits.
Different states send out payments at different times during the month of October. Some send them all at once on October 1. Some SNAP recipients in Florida and Texas may get their payments spread out over the course of the month, while those in Alaska will get their payments on October 1.
The following are some instances of SNAP payment schedules for October 2024:
As food prices and other costs of living continue to rise, this increase helps low-income families across the country in very important ways.
Putting food on the table is one of the basic needs that the increase helps families keep meeting, even though it may not seem like much.
