Florida has multiple additional sales tax holidays per year.

Here’s a brief summary:

  • Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday: June 1 – 14 and August 24 – September 6, 2024
  • Skilled Worker Sales Tax Holiday: September 1 – 7, 2024
  • Permanent Exemptions: Baby and toddler clothing, shoes, diapers, and wipes are always tax-free.
  • Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday: July 29 – August 11

During the back-to-school sales tax holiday, families may buy necessities tax-free as they get ready for the next school year.

The National Retail Federation estimates that the average American household will spend $874.68 on school supplies. During this time, you can purchase the following items tax-free:

Clothes, Accessories, and Footwear: Anything for $100 or less a piece, not including skates, rollerblades, skis, or swim fins.

This covers purses, fanny packs, diaper bags, and backpacks.

Personal computers and accessories: $1,500 or less for non-commercial use.

Desktops, laptops, tablets, e-readers, calculators, and peripherals like mouse, keyboards, displays, and routers are all included in this.

School Supplies: $50 or less in price

Binders, compasses, composition books, computer disks, construction paper, crayons, erasers, folders, glue, legal pads, lunchboxes, markers, notebooks, notebook filler paper, pencils, pens, poster board, poster paper, protractors, rulers, scissors, staplers, and staples are all included in this.

It’s crucial to remember that an item will not be eligible for the sales tax exemption if its price exceeds the upper price restrictions specified.

The tax holiday also doesn’t cover renting or fixing any of the things that are qualified.

You can’t get tax breaks on purchases made in airports, theme parks, entertainment centers, or public hotel facilities.
