IRS Free File: The IRS is now accepting tax returns for the 2023 filing season, and IRS Free File – a programme that makes brand-name tax software and electronic filing available for free to the vast majority of taxpayers – is now available for use.

Based on age, income, and state residency, each provider establishes its own eligibility requirements.

Those who earned $73,000 or less in 2022, including active-duty military, will likely locate a Free File provider that meets their needs. Some providers also offer complimentary preparation of state tax returns.

Free File Fillable Forms can still be used by taxpayers whose income exceeds the threshold.
