IRS Tax Deadline 2024: Due to the problems caused by the weather in April, the IRS has given people in West Virginia and Kentucky more time to file the tax. People who live in certain areas of these states can now file for it until November 1. The purpose of the relief efforts is to assist individuals impacted by the tragedies that occurred in both states.
The IRS states that residents of Boyd, Carter, Fayette, Greenup, Henry, Jefferson, Jessamine, Mason, Oldham, Union, and Whitley counties in Kentucky are eligible for tax relief programs. They now have additional time to complete their tax returns, thanks to this extension. The deadline for finishing tax returns is November for residents of West Virginia in the following counties: Boone, Brooke, Cabell, Fayette, Hancock, Kanawha, Lincoln, Marshall, Nicholas, Ohio, Preston, Putnam, Tyler, Wayne, and Wetzel.
The government stressed that the deadline for filing 2023 tax reports and making any required payments is now November 1, 2024, for many firms and people in these locations. This includes taxpayers in the counties of Boone and Kanawha who, as a result of an earlier declaration, already have an extension through June 17, 2024. The IRS is attempting to help individuals impacted by the April disasters.
Moreover, the IRS stated that the relief announcements might potentially cover other communities in Kentucky impacted by the tornadoes, mudslides, and other disasters that occurred in April. The extended tax deadlines cover individual income tax returns and payments that were initially due on April 15, 2024.
The IRS emphasized the importance of this extension for the impacted taxpayers in a statement that read, “This means that individuals and many businesses will now have until Nov. 1, 2024, to file their 2023 returns and pay any tax due.”
