New Stimulus Check Update: $10,000 Payment Thousands of Americans May Receive

The $10,000 stimulus check payment, part of a community-based initiative aimed at supporting small businesses, may soon be accessible to thousands of Americans residing in Michigan, as previously unknown.

New Stimulus Check Update: Unbeknownst to thousands of Americans, the $10,000 stimulus check payment could soon be in their wallets. The payment may be accessible to American citizens residing in Michigan, as it is a component of a community-based initiative that aims to assist modest enterprises.

The unidentified financial assistance payment may be regarded as a stimulus check, given that the initiative’s objective is to empower and assist Flint-area organizations and individuals. Owners of Michigan small businesses may qualify for the $10,000 direct payment local program, which the Moving Flint Forward initiative will distribute.

The Moving Flint Forward project

General Motors (GM) and the Flint & Genesee Economic Alliance collaborated to establish the Moving Flint Forward initiative, which aims to rejuvenate Flint, Michigan. They assist local businesses and the broader community through a variety of programs.

This encompasses facilitating access to grant programs for small businesses, providing technical assistance in pivotal domains such as financial management and marketing, and advocating for legislation and initiatives that specifically enhance the quality of life for the residents of Flint. By emphasizing these pivotal domains, the Moving Flint Forward initiative seeks to cultivate a future for the city that is more resilient and vibrant.

Facilitating the distribution of a $10,000 stimulus check in Flint

Applications were accepted today for the fifth round of Moving Flint Forward by the collaboration. The small business grant program will allocate 17 grants of up to $10,000 in stimulus payments to eligible Flint businesses, with financial support from General Motors.

With this most recent contribution, General Motors will have contributed nearly $1.2 million to the initiative in total. Since 2019, 62 businesses have received imperative financial and all-encompassing assistance from the Moving Flint Forward program. The initiative will, as previously declared, distribute $10,000 in stimulus funds to Flint, Michigan-based businesses and individuals. The grants aim to foster economic development in the region and provide community benefits.

Supplemental stimulus payment of $5,000 under special requirements

A further $5,000 will be awarded to seven program graduates, in addition to the $10,000 grants. They must exhibit outstanding performance in their endeavors and satisfy the following criteria to qualify:

  • Maintain and operate a company in Flint.
  • Have no more than twenty employees.
  • Avoid becoming a franchise.
  • Implement designated funds for particular objectives, including but not limited to expansions, restorations, inventory modifications, and facade enhancements.

Facilitate enterprise operations

Flint Forward awards allocate relocation funds competitively and businesses should use them to enhance operations. Instances of such undertakings encompass expansion initiatives, acquisitions of equipment and inventory, leasehold enhancements, maintenance restorations, and facade improvements. They are not eligible for debt service on mortgage payments, salary, rent, personnel, or outstanding federal, state, or local taxes.

Additionally, the initiative facilitates connections between beneficiaries and resources that will support the expansion of their organizations beyond the duration of the award. Cohort meetings, which offer networking opportunities and seminars on a variety of business-related topics, are mandatory for grantees.

Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, according to Tyler Rossmaessler, executive director of the Flint & Genesee Economic Alliance. Moreover, these businesses contribute significantly to making Flint a desirable location to live, work, and play. The program’s name, propel Flint forward, suggests that we can offer financial resources and technical assistance to these enterprises.

Who is eligible to apply for the $10,000 grant?

The grant program is available to all Flint small business owners and operators. This program defines small enterprises as those with 20 or fewer employees and does not allow franchise operations. The application period is from March 15, 2024, to 5:00 p.m. A committee comprised of representatives from the Economic Alliance, the City of Flint, local grant-making organizations, and members of the community will evaluate the submissions. Contact with grant recipients will occur during the week of April 22.
