Sam’s Club new Stores: Sam’s Club is getting ready for a major expansion across the United States. The company plans to open around 15 new stores every year and also update all 600 of its current stores. This move shows that Sam’s Club wants to grow faster and make shopping easier and better for its members.

The plan was shared by CEO Chris Nicholas during Walmart Inc.’s 2025 Investment Community Meeting on April 9. He said the company is focusing on getting more members and improving both physical stores and digital tools. In a news release on April 11, Nicholas said, “This is one of the fastest, most scalable transformations happening in retail today.” He also added, “We’re investing with intention — in our fleet, our associates and the member experience — to become the world’s best club retailer.”

More Stores

Sam’s Club is owned by Walmart and has very big goals for the future. With more stores opening, the company wants to double its membership count. It also hopes to more than double its sales and profits in the next 8 to 10 years.

Back in January 2023, Sam’s Club had already shared plans to open 30 new stores over several years. It also talked about a long-term plan to improve its supply chain. In the latest update, the company confirmed it will still open those 30 stores. At the same time, it is building a steady plan to open about 15 new stores every year going forward.

Sam’s Club confirmed it will open two new locations. These will be the first Sam’s Club stores in these cities:

  • Tempe, Arizona
  • Lebanon, Tennessee

What will Change Inside Stores?

All remodeled stores will follow a new design based on a Sam’s Club in Grapevine, Texas. That store reopened in late 2024 after being badly damaged by an EF-1 tornado in December 2022. After major repairs, the store introduced a new shopping style with no traditional checkout counters.

The company explained that the store moved to a “register-free shopping experience.” It also said, “High-top tables near the showroom and entrance are staffed by member specialists ready to assist anyone new to Scan & Go.” Sam’s Club added that this system was “met with enthusiasm, with the majority of members preferring the streamlined system in its first week.”
