myPay Account: As a veteran, accessing your myPay account is simple, but it’s important to keep it up to date, especially if you only use it during tax season. MyPay is a useful tool for managing your tax records and making sure your retirement or annuitant pay is correct. Here’s how you can access myPay, even if you’ve forgotten your password.

If you only log in once a year to get your 1099-R, it can be frustrating to find your password has expired or been lost. The good news is reactivating your account is easy, so it’s best to do it now before tax season arrives.
Go to the myPay website and click on the “Forgot or Need a Password?” link to reset your password. You’ll need two pieces of information, like your registered email, Social Security number, or Login ID. If you’ve set up security questions, you’ll be asked to answer them. If your answers are correct, you can change your password right away.

This can either be mailed to your home address or sent via text to your registered mobile number. Once you receive the temporary password, log back into myPay, and you’ll be all set.

The password will be sent to the address DFAS has on file, and if you’re in the U.S., it should arrive in about ten business days.

After receiving your password, return to the myPay website, log in with your temporary password and Social Security Number, and create a new profile.
Veterans have 13 months to access their myPay account after leaving active duty. Before separation, make sure to update your mailing and email addresses, and save copies of your W-2s within that time. If you need help, you can contact the myPay Customer Care Center at 1-888-332-7411. This way, you’ll avoid any account issues and have year-round access to your pay details.
