SNAP Texas Payment October Schedule: Find Out Who Qualifies for Food Stamps in Texas This Week

SNAP, or food stamps, aids 40 million Americans monthly, providing access to healthy food for low-income families, including those in Texas, through the Texas Health and Human Services Commission and USDA.

SNAP Texas Payment October Schedule: The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), which most people just call “food stamps,” helps more than 40 million Americans every month. This important program gives low-income families, including many in Texas, access to healthy food and is a lifeline for them. Here are the dates that people in Texas can expect to get their October SNAP benefits.

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is in charge of SNAP in the state. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is in charge of the program at the federal level. Its main goal is to help families afford healthy foods like fruits, vegetables, grains, proteins, and dairy so they can eat a balanced and healthy diet.

SNAP Benefits for Veterans: What are the income limits to apply for SNAP?

But there are limitations on what can be done with SNAP benefits. You are not allowed to use the money for things like gas, household bills, hot meals, cigarettes, or alcohol. When benefits are misused, there may be fines, reduced or no assistance, and even legal repercussions.

The Card with the Lone Star

The Lone Star Card, an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card that works similarly to a debit card, is how recipients in Texas access their SNAP benefits. The Lone Star Card is used to receive benefits from Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) in addition to SNAP.

The Eligibility Determination Group (EDG) number of the recipient, which appears on official SNAP documents, determines the precise payment date. Next week, beneficiaries with EDG numbers between 46 and 71 will take their turn receiving their payments. The time that a recipient’s benefits are loaded onto their Lone Star Card is indicated by the last two digits of this number.
