Some Social Security users will receive their February payment on February 3. The money goes to long-time beneficiaries and people who get Social Security along with SSI.
Social Security Payment February 3: Some people in the United States will get their Social Security money early next week. This payment is for February 2026 and will be sent on Tuesday, February 3. It is for people who get retirement money, disability help, or survivor benefits from the Social Security Administration, which is also known as the SSA.
One group getting paid on this day is people who have been receiving Social Security benefits since before May 1997. These are long-time beneficiaries and their payment date has stayed the same for many years.
Another set of people getting money on February 3 are those who receive Social Security and SSI at the same time. SSI helps people with low income who are 65 or older or who have a disability. Their Social Security payment will come on February 3, but their SSI money for February will be paid earlier, on January 30.
Social Security Payments Going Out on January 30: Who Qualifies?
The SSA last shared official numbers in December 2025. At that time the retired workers were getting an average of $2,071.30 each month. People receiving disability benefits were paid about $1,633.19 per month on average. Survivor benefit recipients were getting around $1,620.95 each month.
Starting in January, these amounts went up because of the yearly cost-of-living adjustment. The increase was set at 2.8%. The SSA said this means retired workers will see an average monthly increase of about $56.
If you are not paid on February 3, your money will come later in the month. Social Security sends payments on Wednesdays for most people. The exact Wednesday depends on the birthday:

There is also talk about a possible government shutdown because of a dispute over funding for the Department of Homeland Security. Even if a shutdown happens, Social Security payments will still be sent. The SSA made this clear during the last shutdown. In its plan, the agency promised to “continue activities critical to […] ensure accurate and timely payment“.
