Social Security Recipients to Receive $1,900 Payments on February 28

The exact date of distribution of Social Security payments depends on the beneficiary’s calendar date of birth. Beneficiaries born between the 1st and 10th receive payments on the second Wednesday of the month.

The last Social Security payment for February is rapidly approaching. Each month, the Social Security Administration (SSA) issues millions of payments to program beneficiaries, most of whom are retired or disabled workers who cannot work.

The exact date of distribution of Social Security payments depends on the beneficiary’s calendar date of birth. Beneficiaries born between the 1st and 10th receive payments on the second Wednesday of the month. Those born between the 11th and the 20th receive payments every third Wednesday of the month, and those born between the 20th and the 31st receive payments every fourth Wednesday of the month. The workers who retired before May 1997 and the beneficiaries of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) do not fall into the previous scheme, since they receive their benefits the first and third days of the month, regardless of their date of birth, provided these dates do not fall on a weekend or holiday.

On February 28, who will receive $1,900 from Social Security?

A check of approximately $1,900 dollars will be issued to beneficiaries with a date of birth between the 21st and 31st, according to the payment schedule and average amounts. Consequently, February’s payments have been completed, paving the way for a new round of checks in March.

March Social Security payment schedule

According to the Social Security Administration, the Social Security check schedule for next March is as follows:

  • Friday, 1 March: SSI recipients and those who retired before May 1997

  • Wednesday the 13th: Beneficiaries with a date of birth between the 1st and the 10th

  • Wednesday the 20th: Beneficiaries with a date of birth between the 11th and the 20th

  • Wednesday 27: Beneficiaries with a date of birth between the 21st and 31st

What is the process for issuing Social Security payments?

Those who have provided the Social Security Administration with a bank account, which is now federally mandated since 2013, receive their payments by direct deposit. Less than one percent are still receiving their payments by mail as a paper check, which may require additional time to be received.

For those who still receive their benefits by mail, the Social Security Administration recommends that they sign up for direct deposit at their local office or through my Social Security.

The Social Security Administration recommends waiting three days before contacting Social Security if you do not receive your payment when you expect it.
