These regulations do not apply to children or spouses who get benefits based on the employment history of another individual; in such cases, they are paid on the same day as the principal recipient.

Furthermore, if a person filed for benefits prior to May 1, 1997, receives Supplemental Security Income (SSI), has state-covered Medicare premiums, or resides overseas, they may also get payments on the third of each month.

Find out if you’re eligible for increased Social Security Income and Disability Insurance

SSI payments are made on the first of each month for those eligible due to age, blindness, or disability. If your payment date falls on a federal holiday or weekend, you’ll receive your payment on the preceding weekday. For example, if your payment is due on a Saturday, expect it on Friday.

Understanding these payment schedules is crucial for managing your finances, especially if you rely on these benefits for daily expenses. The Social Security Administration provides a simple calendar to track payment dates, helping you stay organized.
