Stimulus Payment Tracking: The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) offers online tools to monitor the status of your Form 1040-X filing and adjust your tax return. Still, results take time to become apparent. Up to three weeks may pass before your case shows up in the IRS “Where’s My Amended Return?” tool. The IRS also advises waiting to ask inquiries about your Form 1040-X until after this period.
Processing modified returns may take up to 20 weeks, the IRS says, suggesting that the procedure can be drawn out.
You can monitor your revised tax return using the “Where’s My Refund?” service or the amended return number, 866-464-2050.
You will need your date of birth, ZIP code, and Social Security or individual tax ID number to verify the status. You can use this information to search for any amended returns that have been submitted in the last three years. Keep in mind that this is not the same as the IRS’s “Where’s My Refund?” service.
SSDI Payment June: Who will Receive their Payment this Wednesday?
The IRS will issue a brief status report on stimulus funds after locating your return. According to Marca, if the IRS receives your updated return, it indicates that it has received it but has not yet finished reviewing it—a process that might take up to 20 weeks.
The IRS has looked over your updated return and made the required changes to your account. These changes can cause no change at all, a refund, or a balance due. Once the IRS finishes looking over your revised return, you will get mail containing information. The “Where’s My Refund?” feature does not keep track of revised returns for customers who are expecting a refund.
Errors, missing data, unsigned results, and requests for more information are just a few of the things that can hinder processing.
