For people living in New Mexico who file their state taxes by May 31, 2024, heads of households, surviving spouses, and married couples filing jointly may get a tax refund of up to $1,000. Single people and married couples filing separately may get a refund of up to $500. As soon as tax returns are processed, payments will be sent out instantly.

The Families Tax Rebate that was included in Arizona’s 2024 state budget will help about 743,000 people. Based on tax returns from 2021, this refund gives $250 to each dependent under 17 and $100 to each dependent over 17. Payments should start in November, with the goal of giving families more help.

The TABOR return scheme, which redistributes excess state revenues to taxpayers, is still in place in Colorado. The amount for 2024 is $847 for single filers and $1,694 for joint filers. In contrast to prior years, the payouts will be dispersed fairly, with those with lower incomes receiving larger refunds.

There is a one-time child tax credit of up to $3,600 for each qualified child in California’s budget for 2024. They can get a California earned income tax credit and a young child tax credit of up to $1,083 from the state if they have kids younger than six.
