Summer EBT: Food Stamps are used to provide financial assistance to people who apply for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits; they are no longer known as Food Stamps per se. This is donated to those who are unable to pay for their children’s summertime meals when school is not in session.

SNAP is intended for households with low or no income so they can purchase groceries. According to the law, schools are not required to feed children during the summer months when they are all on vacation.

Which kids qualify for the benefits of Summer EBT?

Children who meet certain requirements can apply for the Sun Bucks program, which offers $120 to each qualifying youngster. Children must be of school age to qualify, and their home must already be enrolled in the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations, and SNAP benefits program.

The youngster must also attend a school that participates in the School Breakfast or National School Lunch Programs. Lastly, to qualify for free or reduced-price school meals, the household must meet the income standards.

More than thirty states around the country, Washington, D.C., tribal nations, and the U.S. territories overseas—American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands—will all benefit from this.
