SNAP Recertification Delays: Consequences of Missing the Deadline and Losing Benefits

When is the period for SNAP Benefits Texas recertification?

According to the Texas government website, you must allow sufficient time to complete the SNAP Benefits Texas recertification process.

“For timely redeterminations, the person must contact the Flexible Appointment toll-free number provided on Form H1830-FA early enough in the last benefit month to allow at least 13 days after the interview to ensure that the EDG can be disposed of by the last day of the certification period,” the Texas government website states.

This allows two days for Form H1020, Request for Information or Action, to be mailed from the central mail facility and ten days from the date of Form H1020’s issuance for the household to provide the requested information.

They also specify that if the 10th day occurs on a non-working day, the due date will be the next working day.

What is the last day of the Texas SNAP Benefits recertification period?

If the redetermination is pending verification, the household has until the last business day of the month to provide the requisite verification before action is taken to deny eligibility.

This could result in the cancellation or suspension of your SNAP benefits, which would be extremely inconvenient and problematic for certain families.
