VA Chapter 35 August 2025 Payment: When Will It Be Deposited?

VA Chapter 35 beneficiaries will receive two payments in August 2025, one on August 1 for July and another on August 29 for August, due to the Labor Day holiday.

VA Chapter 35 August 2025 Payment: The Dependent Education Assistance Program from the VA, also called Chapter 35, helps children and spouses of certain veterans pay for school or training. This benefit is mostly for kids and spouses of veterans who either passed away or became permanently disabled because of their service.

The children who apply are usually between 18 and 26 years old, but sometimes there can be exceptions depending on the case. For spouses, they usually get up to ten years to use this help. That time starts either when the veteran passed away or when the VA said the veteran had a permanent disability.

Chapter 35 VA Benefits Explained: What Veterans and Families Need to Know in 2025

When will August Chapter 35 Payment arrive?

Normally, the VA pays these benefits every month. The money usually comes on the first day of the next month. But if the first day is on a weekend or a U.S. holiday, then the VA pays a little earlier on the last working day before that.

For the August 2025 payment, something different is happening. September 1 is Labor Day in the U.S, and since that’s a federal holiday, the VA is moving the payment earlier. That means families getting Chapter 35 will see their August payment on Thursday, August 29. This is unusual because that means people will get two payments in August one for July on August 1 and  the another for August on August 29.

How to Apply if you’re Eligible?

If you haven’t applied yet and you think you qualify, you can still do it. The quickest way is by going online and filling out the application. You can also mail it if you prefer. The form you need is called VA Form 22-5490.

After you send the form, you have to get into a school or training that’s approved by the VA. Once that happens, someone at your school, called the certifying official, will tell the VA that you’re attending. Then the VA will process your benefits.

If you’re not sure how to do this or want to check when your money is coming contact your nearest VA office. They can help you understand the steps and give updates on your payment schedule.
