VA Disability Pay August 2025: How much extra will veterans receive this month due to COLA raise?

Veterans receiving VA disability payments will see a 2.5% increase in August 2025. This boost, driven by the latest COLA adjustment, adds extra money to monthly compensation checks this month.

VA Disability Pay August 2025: Veterans who receive disability compensation from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) are going to get little more money this August 2025. This is because of the 2.5% cost-of-living adjustment, or COLA, that was approved earlier. The COLA increase officially started on January 1, 2025, and now that change is showing up in every monthly VA payment, including the checks that are sent out in August. The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) group also said the increase may not be huge but is still helpful for veterans in need.

The COLA raise was made to help veterans keep up with rising prices. The government adjusts these benefits based on changes in the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) which tracks the prices of everyday things people buy.

VA Disability Payment Schedule 2025: When Will Veterans Be Paid in August?

In late 2024, the Social Security Administration shared the new COLA number, and that’s why this 2.5% bump is now in place. It’s also the same adjustment that affects Social Security payments too.

How much Money will you get?

  • 10% disability rating: Around $4.28 more, bringing the total to $175.51/month
  • 100% disability rating (no dependents): Around $93.45 more, totaling $3,831.30/month

Veterans who have a higher rating and also support family members might qualify for more than that, depending on their situation.

VA Disability Pay August 2025: Two Payments

August is turning out to be an important month for veterans who receive VA disability payments. That’s because they will be getting two payments during this month.

  • The first payment will come on Friday, August 1, which covers the benefit for the month of July.
  • Then, another payment will come on Friday, August 29, and that one covers August’s benefits.

Chapter 35 VA Benefits Explained: What Veterans and Families Need to Know in 2025

With rising costs all around us, even small changes like this can really help. Families often have more expenses around this time of year, and getting two VA payments in August might reduce some stress.

Experts from places like DAV and Military.com mentioned that while the 2.5% increase is smaller compared to past years, it still helps veterans and their survivors live with more dignity. Even a small boost in monthly money can go a long way for people trying to keep up with daily costs.
