VA Education Dependent Benefits

Individuals who are dependents on a veteran’s surviving spouse may qualify for certain VA education benefits. When applying for this scholarship, those who are eligible for both the Fry Scholarship and the Survivors and Dependents’ Education Assistance (DEA) must choose one. There is no way to go back and forth between the two after this selection has been made. They will, therefore, be allowed to utilise transferred benefits in conjunction with the Fry Scholarship and DEA. The Fry Scholarship, the DEA, and the rewards for transferred education are the three advantages that may be utilised with this programme.

The VA Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance Programme (DEA, Chapter 35) offers qualifying dependents of veterans who have died while on active duty or as a result of a service-related condition, or who are permanently and totally disabled, access to education and training opportunities. Children who are between the ages of 18 and 26 are eligible to access the benefit.

Up to 45 months of full-time benefits, or similar payments, may be awarded to eligible individuals for:

  • College, business, technical or vocational courses, high school diploma or GED, independent study or remote learning courses
  • Spouses-only correspondence courses, apprenticeships, and on-the-job training
  • In some situations, remedial, deficient, and refresher training
  • The price of exams for licences or certificates required to obtain, hold, or grow in a position
