McLaren F1: Compared to the previous two Formula One seasons, McLaren is currently in a stronger position. They can now compete at the front of the grid because of their new wind tunnel and simulator. They have been able to recover from previous setbacks in large part thanks to the club’s driver lineup and upgrade package. McLaren is in a strong position going into the 2024 season thanks to their commitment to innovation and development.
With the exception of Red Bull, only McLaren has been able to forecast the path of the car in 2023. Compared to rivals like Ferrari and Mercedes, the team is in a better position to continue developing the car because they had the second-fastest vehicle in the second part of the season. This season, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri will be the McLaren tandem. Some may argue that, even with Lando’s contract extension until 2025, the organization is taking chances with the young Australian Piastri.
After making a few little adjustments to his technique, Oscar Piastri has demonstrated his ability in his first season of Formula One racing. In a few races, he even put Lando Norris up against him. This season, he will have a 12-month database to draw on, so anticipate him to be more consistent, which might make the race between the two drivers closer. But there’s also a chance that this will result in a collision between the two drivers.

In Lando Norris’ opinion, McLaren has not advanced as far in preparation for the 2024 season as he and the team had intended. The British driver acknowledged that there might be difficulties for the squad in Bahrain this coming weekend for the team’s inaugural race. Even though he is only 24 years old, Norris has already established himself as one of the top drivers in the F1 world after entering his sixth season.
“I think it’s clear [who] the top two [are], then there’s a bit of a bunch behind, which is Mercedes, Aston [Martin] and us. But in terms of how the pre-season test went, it was a lot better than last year and we’re in a much better position than last year, so that’s the most important thing.”
McLaren CEO Zak Brown has always embraced the challenge of raising the bar for the team since joining the firm. The team struggled until the second part of 2023, after winning one race in 2021 at Monza.
“Ambition is to win races this year. No surprise, the record appears extremely strong again. Obviously, we’ve done a great job over the winter with the racing car. Nine podiums last year. It would be nice to be able to get one further step towards the top, So we certainly want to start where we finished and progress over the season. See no reason why, if we can keep up the development that we’ve had since the summer of last year, we should be in a position to get on that top step shortly,” said the McLaren CEO in his statement to GP Blog.
