In its modern iteration, the United States will serve as the host nation for the inaugural CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup. Following the success of men’s competitions, the North American confederation supports the establishment of a CONCACAFW tournament for women. Mexico and Argentina will be honored with the honor of starting a historically significant tournament. However, will off-field officiating support be available?
VAR will participate in Women’s Gold Cup group and knockout phases, using national anthems from Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Salvador in US postseason matches.
Inaugural CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup Kicks Off with Preliminary Playoff Round on February 17th
The identities of all the referees participating in the tournament have already been disclosed by CONCACAF. Additionally, eight VAR assistants hailing from Canada, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, the United States, and Mexico will be present. In addition to the group stage, the quarterfinals and championship match will take place in March.
