Alcaraz vs Gasquet: Alcaraz already knows the date of his first match at the Australian Open 2024, which may represent the beginning of a special run in Melbourne as he makes up for lost time.

Having been injured last year, the player from Murcia faces his first Grand Slam of the season.

Alcaraz, the current world number two and second-favorite to win the Australian Open behind Novak Djokovic, will make his Melbourne Park debut on Tuesday, January 16 in the second match of the night session.

The 20-year-old has been drawn against the Frenchman Richard Gasquet, who he defeated in their only previous meeting in the Umag final in 2021.

Having never advanced past the third round in Melbourne and missing out on last year’s Major, Alcaraz will attempt to make amends after reaching at least the semi-finals in all three Slams in 2023.
