FIFA Women's World Cup 2023

FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023: Now that the group rounds of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 in Australia and New Zealand are over, the tournament moves on to the Round of 16.

For the first part of the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, the 32 teams were split into eight groups, from A to H. In a single-header round robin system, each team in each group played each other once. The top two teams from each group moved on to the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 Round of 16, which is the first of the knockout stages.

The reigning winners, Group E’s USWNT, just made it into the Round of 16 because they tied two of their games. Their only win was against Vietnam. They lost to the Netherlands, who will be in the finals in 2019, and Portugal, who will be making its debut in 2023.

After their shocking 3-2 loss to Nigeria, Australia’s fate didn’t become clear until the very last match of Group B. But a strong 4-0 win over Canada helped them finish first in their group and send the gold medalists from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics home.

With three wins out of three in Group D, England made sure they would move on to the next round. After beating Denmark and Haiti by a score of 1-0, they played so well against China that they won by a score of 6-0. The Lionesses, along with Japan and Sweden, are the only teams in this event to have won all of their group games.

During the group rounds of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, some big names were sent home.

Brazil was kicked out of Group F because they only won one game, against Panama. Then, they lost to France and tied with Jamaica, which put the Reggae Girlz in the quarterfinals and took Marta out of her last Women’s World Cup.

Germany didn’t get out of the group rounds for the first time either. Before this summer, their worst finish at a Women’s World Cup was getting knocked out in the quarterfinals. This makes their 2023 effort their least impressive to date.

Colombia, who won Group H with two wins and one loss and sent Germany home early, is partly to blame for that. This is only the second time in the history of the country that they have made it to the Round of 16 of the Women’s World Cup. In their first Women’s World Cup, Morocco came in second in Group H and was the only team to beat them.

South Africa also made it to the Round of 16 for the first time at a Women’s World Cup. They came in second in Group G, behind Italy but ahead of Argentina.

Switzerland, Norway, Australia, Nigeria, Japan, Spain, England, Denmark, Netherlands, USA, France, Jamaica, Sweden, South Africa, Colombia, and Morocco have all made it to the Round of 16 of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.
