One of the few bright lights for Sri Lanka during their terrible World Cup performance

ICC ODI World Cup 2023 Top Wicket-takers: On November 19, Australia and India will compete in the World Cup final. Before the championship match, let’s have a look at this World Cup’s leading wicket-takers. Australia defeated South Africa in the second semifinal.

ICC ODI World Cup 2023 Top Wicket-takers

Mohammed Shami: 23 wickets

By registering the most wickets of any Indian bowler in World Cup history, Mohammed Shami created history. Shami was victorious from the competition with an incredible 7/57, claiming 23 wickets from six games at an astounding average of 9.13.

Australia’s Adam Zampa: 22 wickets

With his two-wicket haul against Bangladesh over the weekend, Adam Zampa broke Brad Hogg’s previous record of 21 wickets from the 2007 West Indies tournament to become Australia’s most successful spinner at a 50-over World Cup.

Sri Lanka’s Dilshan Madushanka: 21 wickets

One of the few bright lights for Sri Lanka during their terrible World Cup performance was their bowler.

South African Gerald Coetzee: 20 wickets

After Anrich Nortje’s injury kept him out of the World Cup, Gerald Coetzee was a key member of the South African team.

India’s Jasprit Bumrah: 18 wickets

Since his return from injury, Jasprit Bumrah has added an outswinger to his already potent arsenal, which saw him take wickets and not allow up many runs early on.

Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi: 18 wickets

Shaheen Shah Afridi, Pakistan’s top bowler, is also ranked in the top 10. Before Pakistan was eliminated from the semi-finals, he claimed 18 wickets. Despite taking 18 wickets in nine games, Afridi’s opening spell lacked bite since his favourite new-ball partner, Naseem, was not there.

South African player Marco Jansen: 17 wickets

Another South African bowler, Marco Jansen, was used frequently for the team but had two pretty poor performances against Australia and India.

India’s Ravindra Jadeja: 16 wickets

Along with Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja plays a significant role in India’s middle-overs bowling attack.

New Zealander Mitchell Santner: 16 wickets

Although Mitchell Santner had a spectacular run at the World Cup and claimed 16 wickets, he struggled in the semi-final matchup with India.

Pakistani Haris Rauf: 16 wickets

The tournament’s first Asian bowler to suffer the shame of conceding 500 runs was Haris Rauf.
