NHL Sexual Assault Scandal: Two players connected to the New Jersey Devils are among the members of the 2018 Canadian world junior hockey team who are allegedly accused of sexual assault.

The accused players have not yet been identified, but a number of them have taken indefinite leaves from their professional teams. These players include Alex Formenton, who is currently with Swiss club Ambri Piotta, Michael McLeod and Cal Foote from the New Jersey Devils, Carter Hart from the Philadelphia Flyers, Dillon Dube from the Calgary Flames, and Carter Hart from the Philadelphia Flyers.

The accused players were recognised for winning the World Junior Championships at a fundraising banquet hosted by Hockey Canada in June 2018, which coincided with an alleged group sexual assault.

On February 5, London police, who had previously looked into the event more than a year ago but had not brought charges, would conduct a news conference to offer further information.

Note that Canada does not have a statute of limitations for sexual assault. The matter came back to light in April 2022 when a lady going by the name E.M. sued Hockey Canada, the Canadian Hockey League, and eight anonymous players, for $3.55 million in damages.

She stated that she had consensually intercourse with a few people, but she also claimed that seven other players had entered the room, assaulted her sexually, and caused her mental pain.

The complaint was discreetly resolved by Hockey Canada approximately a month later, reigniting national interest on the matter, forcing London police to resume their investigation.
