World Juniors 2024: Ten of the world’s best U20 teams are trying to win a gold title this winter. Sweden is going to host one of the most exciting hockey events this year: the 2024 World Junior-A. The game gives the best teenagers in the world a chance to show off their skills and gives their country a chance to win a title.
Canada comes into this year having won two gold medals in a row. In 2023, they beat Czechia in overtime in the gold medal game. Since Canada won four in a row in the late 2000s, no other team has won three straight World Junior Games.
It’s not a wonder that Canada, the USA, Sweden, and Finland are the favorites to win the event again. Everything starts on December 26.

People in the United States can watch the games live on TV on the NHL Network or stream them through Fubo, which has a free trial.
For the first time since before COVID, the World Juniors are being held outside of North America this year. The game will take place in Gothenburg, Sweden, in 2024.
The games will take place in two grounds in Gothenburg: Scandinavium and Frolundaborg. Group A will play at Scandanavium, and Group B will play at Frolundaborg. The quarterfinals will be played at both places, and then the semifinals and medal games will be held at Scandinavium.
It was meant to be held in Gothenburg in 2022, but because of COVID, the IIHF changed the event to Halifax, N.S. and Moncton, N.B. The U20 game will be held in Gothenburg for the first time. It will be held in Sweden seven times over all.
As of the start of the game, the oddsmakers said that the USA, Canada, Sweden, and Finland were all in it for the gold.

Each team in each group will play four opening games in a round-robin style. There will then be a three-round final.
If a team wins in regulation, they get three points. If they win in overtime, they get two points. If they lose in regulation, they get one point.
The top four teams from each group move on to the playoffs, where they will play teams based on their seeds. For these games, they will switch groups: 1A plays 4B, 1B plays 4A, 2A plays 3B, and 2B plays 3A. If a team makes it to the playoffs, it will be reseeded.
As a winner of the playoffs, you will play for the gold title. The losers will play for third place.
