Airtel Xstream AirFiber: Residential Wi-Fi service utilizing Airtel 5G Plus Introduced

We are excited to introduce Xstream AirFiber to consumers in Delhi and Mumbai, with plans for a future nationwide rollout.

Airtel Xstream AirFiber: Airtel has introduced Xstream AirFiber, a 5G-powered fixed wireless access (FWA) service. This service seeks to meet the rising demand for Wi-Fi connectivity in homes, particularly in regions with limited traditional fiber infrastructure.

According to the company, it is a solution for the approximately 34 million households in India without fiber connectivity. This wireless Wi-Fi solution is intended to address the last mile connectivity problem, bridging the divide in rural and urban areas where accessing fiber infrastructure has been difficult.

Features of Airtel Xstream and AirFiber

The unique feature is its integrated Wi-Fi 6 technology, which has significant advantages over Wi-Fi 5 modems. It offers a 50% increase in speed, a greater range, and enhanced coverage, assuring seamless connectivity for up to 64 devices at once.

Notably, it reduces the battery consumption of connected devices, improves the security of Wi-Fi passwords, and facilitates faster downloads and uploads. The plug-and-play design makes installation effortless, and the Xstream AirFiber app enables fast and simple self-installation.

Plans for Airtel Xstream AirFiber Service

The pricing alternatives for the Airtel Xstream AirFiber service are highly competitive. The Rs 799 basic plan offers speeds of up to 100 Mbps and is available for a six-month period with a one-time, refundable security deposit of Rs 2,500.

In addition, a discounted six-month plan is available for Rs. 4,435 (originally Rs. 4,794) plus 18% GST, for a total price of Rs. 7,733.

Availability and Prospective Growth

Customers in Delhi and Mumbai can opt for the Xstream AirFiber service at designated Airtel locations. The telecommunications company intends to gradually expand this service to multiple locations and eventually to the entire country.

Notably, all Xstream AirFiber devices are manufactured in India as part of the “Make in India” initiative, demonstrating Airtel’s commitment to domestic manufacturing.

Shashwat Sharma, Director of Consumer Business for Bharti Airtel, spoke at the inauguration.

Due to the difficulty of laying fiber in such an extensive country, there are still regions in India without access to high-speed internet despite the rapid expansion of residential broadband. While fiber to the residence provides the best Wi-Fi experience, AirFiber helps everyone else close the gap. We are excited to introduce Xstream AirFiber to consumers in Delhi and Mumbai, with plans for a future nationwide rollout.
