Costco Membership Sharing Restrictions: 4 Ways for Bargain Seekers

According to The Dallas Morning News, the merchant said that when they added additional self-checkout lanes

Costco Cracks Down: In a Costco subreddit, one user said, “Costco is cracking down on membership sharing,” according to Parade. Only Costco members are permitted to make purchases, according to a picture of Costco’s general regulations that was posted. According to Parade, the business started placing notices at checkouts that read:

According to The Dallas Morning News, the merchant said that when they added additional self-checkout lanes, they spotted non-member customers using cards that didn’t belong to them. Workers at the Costco locations in Dallas and Rockwall were also requesting picture IDs from customers.

Costco Cracks Down, but Here Are 4 Workarounds for Bargain Seekers: Membership Sharing Restrictions

“We don’t feel it’s right that nonmembers receive the same benefits and pricing as our members,” Costco stated in an email. We now request to view the member’s membership card with their photo at our self-service checkout registers because we already request it at the register.

Parade claims that there are methods to follow the regulations while saving money or splitting membership costs.

Anyone 16 years of age or older who resides in the same home is eligible for one free household card from Costco. This implies that regardless of the person’s image on the card, everyone residing in the same home can shop using the same membership. Members might need to provide documentation proving they reside at that address in accordance with Costco’s regulations.

Costco Shop Cards are also accepted in nonmember stores, according to Parade. Although they are gift cards, a member must buy the card. You can only use the remaining amount on your Costco Shop card to pay for your purchases when you arrive to the register.

Anyone may use the Costco pharmacy, and nonmembers can make purchases on the Costco website if they’re still determined to buy there without a membership. Parade emphasised that there is a 5% extra associated with such a choice.
