Microsoft Releases Updated Edge Browser and Bing Search Powered by ChatGPT to Compete with Google

According to the company, the AI (artificial intelligence) capabilities of Microsoft’s Edge browser and Bing search engine are currently being utilised to “provide better search, more complete answers, a novel chat experience, and the potential to generate content.” Bing search uses an updated version of the AI technology that powers ChatGPT.

OpenAI, the company that created ChatGPT, develops the technology. Microsoft released these modifications one day after Google unveiled Bard, its ChatGPT competitor. While ChatGPT uses the GPT 3 module, Bard employs the Google-developed LaMDA language model.

Edge will also receive a redesign. Microsoft has added chat and composition features to its Chromium-based browser. Customers can use the Edge Sidebar to request a summary of a lengthy financial report in order to understand the key points before using the chat feature to request a comparison with the financials of a competitor.

Users can also ask Edge for assistance in creating content, such as a LinkedIn post, by providing it with a few prompts to get started. After that, you can request assistance with updating the tone, structure, and length of the post. Edge can recognise the website you are visiting and make adjustments accordingly.

Is Bing Using ChatGPT?

Microsoft claims that Bing is powered by a brand-new OpenAI large language model that was “tailored specifically for the search” and is “more powerful than ChatGPT.”

The modernised technology uses the knowledge gained from ChatGPT and GPT-3.5 to generate more accurate responses. The search engine giant will now use LaMDA technology to provide users with more conversational results.

This saves consumers the trouble of navigating numerous websites in search of the appropriate response. Your response will be generated by artificial intelligence using web searches.

Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella commented on the development in a blog post, stating that “AI will fundamentally transform every software area, beginning with the most popular software category – search.” Microsoft invested billions of dollars over multiple years in OpenAI last month as part of a long-term partnership.
