MSI reveals new Claw Handheld Gaming PC at CES 2024

The device features a 7-inch FHD IPS display that refresh at 120Hz.

At CES 2024, MSI unveiled the Claw handheld gaming PC, which has generated considerable enthusiasm among gamers. Recently, the device’s specifications surfaced, and it is now public knowledge. The Steam Deck, Asus ROG Ally, and Lenovo Legion Go are just a few examples of the well-known products that dominate the market, but the Claw stands out because it uses an Intel Meteor Lake processor instead of the majority of its competitors’ AMD CPUs.

The device features a 7-inch FHD IPS display that refreshes at 120Hz.

Comparable in size to the Asus ROG Ally, the 7-inch FHD IPS display on the MSI Claw features a 120Hz refresh rate and is one of its most notable characteristics. However, the Claw stands out for its one-of-a-kind color variation and the blue A, B, X, and Y buttons, which give its design a distinctive touch.

The Claw offers promising performance due to its 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and Intel Arc integrated graphics, despite weighing slightly more than its competitors at 675 grams. Storage capacity is ample, with a MicroSD card slot and up to 1 terabyte of SSD space available for expansion.

MSI is especially pleased with the battery life of the Claw. The company asserts that a 53Whr battery can provide an exceptional two hours of playtime under conditions of maximum exertion, an essential attribute for mobile gamers.

The introduction of the MSI Claw indicates an increasing demand for portable gaming PCs, a sector that experienced a surge in activity following the introduction of Valve’s Steam Deck. MSI’s introduction into the portable gaming market with the Claw exemplifies how performance and innovation are crucial for attracting customers in a highly competitive industry.

MSI anticipates the release of the Claw in the first half of 2024, providing handheld gamers with an additional thrilling option. It will be fascinating to observe how MSI’s Claw compares to well-established competitors as the market grows and whether its distinctive qualities will provide it with a competitive advantage.
