Smart Home Day 2023: Smart Home Day is held every year on November 3. It is a day to honor the innovation that creates a smart home, which is one that employs and is in charge of a home automation system. This kind of automation keeps an eye on and manages things in the house like the temperature, lights, and appliances. A lot of smart homes also have security systems like alarms, remote tracking, and access control.

SMART HOME DAY’S HISTORY

Machines that did work for you were the first kind of home automation. As time went on, gas-powered home appliances and electric gadgets that could run on their own became commonplace. In the 1900s, electric power distribution sparked this change, which led to the creation and widespread use of appliances like washing machines, water heaters, freezers, and more.

The first general-purpose home automation network device, called the X10, came out and was put into development in 1975. The X10 is a way for electronic devices to talk to each other. It uses power transmission wiring for control and signaling, with messages made up of short bursts of radio frequency digital data. They came with 16-channel command consoles and an appliance module in 1978, three years after the first X10 models were sold.

Microsoft Research found in 2011 that the innovation of home automation might not be as useful as it could be because it is expensive to own, devices that are connected to it aren’t flexible, and it’s hard to handle. As a result of this information becoming public, designers and engineers now think about things like scalability, how well the devices can be monitored and controlled, how easy it is for the consumer to set up and use, cost, speed, security, and the ability to figure out what’s wrong when they make new home automation systems.

As of 2012, an A.B.I. study said that 1.5 million home automation systems had been installed in the United States.
