Originally known as World Backup Month, the observance was later renamed World Backup Day. This annual event was initiated by Maxtor, a company specialising in hard drives.
We have access to the most capable computers available, but what would you do if you lost everything stored on your computer? Data recovery can cost hundreds of dollars, and it is not guaranteed that you will be able to retrieve everything you’ve stored on your computer. We recognise that life can be hectic, making it easy to neglect to back up your files. On March 31, we will be celebrating World Backup Day.
Originally known as World Backup Month, the observance was later renamed World Backup Day. This annual event was initiated by Maxtor, a company specialising in hard drives. World Backup Day is observed annually on March 31 to remind us to create multiple copies of our digital treasures or risk losing them forever. Additionally, the day functions to promote better online and technological practises. We have not yet developed habits that assure the security and safety of our information and personal data, considering how dependent we are on technology today.
It has happened to all of us: the irreplaceable photo or video that was taken to immortalise a moment no longer exists. We’ve all experienced the loss of irretrievable data due to malfunctioning hard drives, compromised computers, erratic phones, or any other such occurrence.
World Backup Day occurs the day prior to April Fools’ Day, which is ideal. As pranksters and hackers are likely to perform practical jokes on unsuspecting individuals, it is best to be cautious.
The holiday was first observed in 2011, and has since become the one day on which we do not say “we’ll back it up tomorrow.”
Set aside 15 to 60 minutes to back up all extant files on your desktop, laptop, or computer. Simply purchase a hard drive of your choosing – 1TB or larger is recommended – and copy your files to it.
Cannot purchase a hard disc in time? No problems! There are numerous companies that specialise in online document storage. Conduct research to determine which service best meets your needs. We recommend Google Cloud, WMware Storage, and Barracuda Cloud Storage, but they’re all excellent!
Invite all team members to back up their files using one of the aforementioned methods. This will foster a culture of safety among your employees and prevent projects from falling through the cracks. The last thing you need is a client requesting an improperly deleted file.
A minor error can result in a catastrophic loss of data.
Even the most effective anti-virus firewalls can be breached by new virus types.
Multiple copies of extremely essential files will provide peace of mind.
That thesis you are composing must be supported!
In the event that your device fails permanently, your personal files will be stored securely in the cloud or on a backup device.
