Bhim Rao Ambedkar Biography: The first Justice Minister of Independent India, who is also recognized as the author of the Indian Constitution, will be the subject of this article’s biography. He is well known for having saved the lower caste. In order to ensure that the lower castes and weaker sections of India would not experience any hardship from the upper section, he dedicated his entire life to their advancement. His effort has given Dalits the identity they have in today’s society. We shall thus talk about other facets of his life in this essay.

The 14th child in his family, Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar was born in Madhya Pradesh on April 14, 1891. He is a brilliant leader who later drafted the crucial constitution required for the efficient running of the nation’s affairs. He is reported to have been gifted since birth. The Mahar caste, which was viewed as untouchable and belonging to the lower class, was where Bhimrao Ambedkar was born. His early years were therefore filled with challenges. Ambedkar and all other members of the lower castes experienced discrimination, shame, and exclusion from upper-class individuals. His teachers discriminated against him even when he was in school. Not even the water container could come into contact with him. He used to get water from the school peon, and he would not get water if the peon didn’t show up. Because of the discrimination, he thought about it, trusted his gut, and made history.

B. R. Ambedkar Education

Bhim Rao Ambedkar Biography: Ambedkar resumed his study after passing his tenth grade in 1907, and he earned his diploma in 1912. He produced a thesis on ancient Indian commerce between 1913 and 1915. Ambedkar kept going to school, graduating from Columbia University’s post-graduate program in economics in 1915. He also obtained his doctorate in 1917. He enrolled in the London School of Economics in 1917. But for a while, he was unable to complete his degree due to financial constraints. Eventually, though, he relocated to London once more and completed his degree from the same college. Ambedkar studied every religion in the world and was an authority on nearly 64 subjects. He was also fluent in nine languages. He is regarded as the most learned leader and philosopher of his day as a result.

In 1906, Doctor Bhimrao Ambedkar, who was referred to as the Dalit people’s Savior, tied the knot with Ramabai Ambedkar. They subsequently had a son called Yashwant. He remarried because, regrettably, Ramabai passed away in 1935 from a protracted, incurable illness.

Following the completion of the Indian Constitution’s drafting, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar had a range of symptoms that made it difficult for him to get a good night’s sleep, including excruciating leg pain and worsening diabetes, which required him to take insulin. So, in order to get medicine, he journeyed to Bombay (now Mumbai), where he saw Brahman (a caste) physician Sharda Kabir. After that, in 1948, they both got married. Following her marriage, Dr. Sharda also adopted Savita Ambedkar as her new surname.

B. R. Ambedkar as a Social Reformer

Throughout his work, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar saw numerous injustices. As a result, he assumed responsibility for bringing about societal changes and established the All-India Classes Association. He founded his organization as a fervent advocate for social reform. He made an effort to correct all of the injustices that he had experienced in the past, including the practice of untouchability, the ban on lower class people entering temples, and numerous other forms of discrimination. Unfortunately, it wasn’t simple because of British dominance. The leaders of the British government were concerned that this group, the inflexible and conservative classes, would undoubtedly turn against them. He continued to assist the lower section despite not stopping.

Thus, in a speech given in Bombay during the 1920s, he made it quite clear that he would give preference to the country when its interests and his own preferences conflicted, but he would also give preference to the lower section when those interests and his own preferences conflicted. He then turned into the Dalits’ savior after that. As a result, he defied their expectations and battled to the very end to guarantee that the underprivileged were respected. He also oversaw a number of nonviolent strikes in the 1920s.

Mahatma Gandhi and Ambedkar

Despite this, Mahatma Gandhi and B.R. Ambedkar reached a consensus on a plan of action in the Pune Pact of 1932 following cooperative discussions. titled “What Congress and Gandhi have done to the Untouchables,” Ambedkar wrote a paper in 1945. He challenged the claim made by Mahatma Gandhi that he supported the Hari people.

B. R. Ambedkar Political Career

Bhim Rao Ambedkar Biography: The Congress and Mahatma Gandhi then gave the oppressed people a new name: Harijans. Consequently, everyone in the lower sections began to be referred to as Harijan. Even so, Ambedkar, who remained steadfast in his efforts to eradicate untouchability from Indian society, took issue with Gandhi’s remark. They then got into a number of arguments with one another.

Following that, B R Ambedkar was appointed as the Labour Minister and Defence Consultant to the Viceroy’s Governing Board. Because of his dedication, sacrifice, and hard work, he went on to become the first Law Minister of an independent India.

Constitution of India

Ambedkar emphasized the significance of building a genuine bridge that unites all facets of society. It is impossible to preserve the nation’s unity, according to B.R. Ambedkar, if the inequities between the various country sections are not addressed. Therefore, his main goal in drafting the constitution was to end untouchability and caste discrimination inside the nation and to spark a social revolution by creating an untouchable free society and ensuring equality for all. He also addressed caste equality, gender issues, and religion. Dr. Ambedkar assumed the role of Chairman of the Constitutional Drafting Committee on August 29, 1947.

Additionally, Ambedkar was able to get the Legislative Assembly to approve quotas for members of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in public service, government jobs, and education.

B R Ambedkar Death

Between 1954 and 1955, Dr. Ambedkar’s health was deteriorating and he became increasingly concerned when he was diagnosed with diabetes, blurred vision, and several other diseases that were putting his health at risk. His declining health caused him to pass away on December 6, 1956.

Conclusion

We are grateful for all of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar’s services to humanity. He put up a lot of effort to defend the rights of Dalits during a time when their treatment as untouchables dehumanized them. Even though he had to experience humiliation multiple times, he never gave up on bravery. Rather, he grew even more audacious and made a significant socio-economic progress to the country. Because of everything he accomplished, he will always be remembered.
