“Growing up in the Tampa Bay area was something that was always super special to me,” she said. “I loved going out on the water. I loved that small-town feeling that I had back in Homosassa.”
Dixon, age 25, succeeded Taylor Fulford, the previous year’s champion. Since the age of 13, the new Miss Florida USA has been contending in pageants. The confidence and self-esteem lift it provides is what attracted Dixon to the stage, she explained. A friend of hers was contending in pageants, and she encouraged Dixon to enter by sharing her experience.

Caroline Dixon Biography: “For me, I really needed something that was going to help provide that positive self-esteem and boost my self-confidence, so I started competing,” she explained.
This was Dixon’s third attempt to win the title. While a typical year of preparation for most, including herself, would include interview counseling, fitness training, and walking practice, she took a different approach this year.
“This year, I had decided going into it that I wasn’t going to try to fit a mold,” Dixon explained. “I wasn’t going to try to be this perfect title holder that I felt like the judging panel would want. I really wanted to go in and authentically be myself.”
And it succeeded. As she was given flowers and the crown was placed on her head, her mother and fiancé cheered from the audience.
A recent rule modification at the Miss Universe level permits women who are married or who have children to compete in the competition. This enables women such as Dixon, who is engaged to her high school sweetheart, to participate in the competition without a burden.
“Now with this rule change, we’re all allowed to live our lives freely and feel comfortable doing that,” she stated.
Mother’s Day coincided with the winner of the Miss Florida USA competition. Dixon stated that she has a video of her fiancé and mother’s reactions when her name was announced.

“Looking back on that video and seeing how proud I made them, it just it got me super emotional, too,” she added.
Dixon is excited about the future as she prepares to fulfill her duty as Miss Florida USA and for the Miss USA pageant in the fall. Dixon expressed her eagerness to service the community in St. Petersburg, citing upcoming plans with professional sports teams and an upcoming food pantry event.
Dixon stated, “My message for young girls all across the state of Florida and even beyond the borders of this state is that you’re capable of doing anything you set your mind to as long as you’re willing to put forth the hard work and effort,”
