Patrick Kearon Biography: Elder Patrick Kearon became President of the Seventy in 2017. He had been President of the Europe Area Presidency in Germany for five years. As of August 2020, he was named senior president of the Seventy. He helps Elder D. Todd Christofferson run the Utah Area right now, and Elder David A. Bednar runs the Middle East/Africa North Area.
Besides running his own marketing firm, he has lived and worked in many different companies in the US, Saudi Arabia, the UK, and the US. As a part of his social and community service, he has been on the boards of a number of groups, schools, business clubs, and colleges.
Patrick Kearon Biography
Patrick Kearon was born on July 18, 1961, and is an apostle of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). He became a member of the Presidency of the Seventy in August 2017 and stayed there until December 2023.
Since 2010, he has been a general leader of the church. At the start of the Presidency of the Seventy in 1975, Kearon was the first person born outside of the United States to be senior president. This happened on August 1, 2020.
And Kearon is a member of the Quorum of the Twelve. The LDS Church sees him as a prophet, seer, and revelator. He is the fifteenth most senior and junior minister in the church right now.
Patrick Kearon Service in the LDS Church
In the LDS Church, Kearon has been an area seventy and the head of the Bristol England Stake. Kearon gave his first speech to the general conference in October 2010. In it, he talked about how the atonement of Jesus Christ can heal people spiritually.
At the time he was called as a general authority, Kearon was living in the English town of Clevedon, which is in the county of North Somerset. In 2011, he was made assistant executive head of the church’s priestly and media work.
Before becoming president of the area in August 2015, he worked as an advisor in the Europe Area office of the church from August 2012 to August 2015.
Kearon was named to the Presidency of the Seventy in May 2017. He would start on August 1 and be in charge of the church’s North America West and North America Northwest areas.
Kearon, a strong supporter of religious freedom, says, “Religious freedom means nothing if you protect your own practice while ignoring the practice of others, especially those who might be less safe and able to defend themselves.”
It only works if everyone’s rights are respected. During a 2016 European Union meeting, he talked to people from the European Commission and asked for help with the refugee problem.
According to an opinion piece in the New York Times, Kearon said about his work with refugees, “Their story is our story, not that many years ago.” In his role as head of the church’s Europe Area, Kearon led efforts within the church to both support and start new programs that help refugees.
