Roker married television producer Sy Kravitz in 1962, and the couple had a son, Lenny Kravitz, in 1964. They eventually separated in 1985.
Roker began her professional career as a member of the Negro Ensemble Company. In 1974, she received an Obie Award and a Tony Award nomination for her performance in “The River Niger.” Roker was a reporter for WNEW-TV in New York in the 1970s, and she also hosted a talk programme. She has also appeared in a number of television shows, including “Stone in the River,” “Murder, She Wrote,” and “Fantasy Island.”
