Sean Paul Biography: Sean Paul Ryan Francis Henriques, also known as Sean Paul, was born in Kingston, Jamaica on January 9, 1973. He is a rapper, singer, and songwriter who has released over seven studio albums. His reggaeton style is well-known, and he has had numerous hits throughout his career. With hits such as “Baby Boy” and “Temperature,” it’s easy to see why Paul is one of the most popular artists in his genre. Although he was born into a family of award-winning swimmers, he chose a different path and is now an inspiration for all aspiring rappers.

The celebrated rapper and singer Sean Paul comes from a modest background. His father, swimmer and water polo player Garth Henriques, was of Afro-Jamaican descent with roots in the Portuguese Jewish community. Frances, the mother of Paul, is a painter of English, Chinese, and Jamaican descent. Paul grew up in a multicultural environment. During his school years, he, like his father and grandfather, was a swimmer, following in the footsteps of generations of swimmers in his family. Following Wolmer’s Boys’ School, he attended the College of Arts, Science, and Technology. At age 21, he gave up swimming to pursue a career in music. After being discovered at an open mic night in Kingston, he recorded and released his debut album, “Stage One,” in 2000.

In 2002, he released his second album, “Dutty Rock,” which was a global hit and sold over six million copies. In 2004, it also won “Best Reggae Album of the Year” at the 46th Annual Grammy Awards. 2005 saw the release of Paul’s third studio album, “The Trinity,” which featured the smash hit “Temperature.” He released two more albums, “Imperial Blaze” and “Tomahawk Technique,” between 2009 and 2012. In the same year, he married his longtime girlfriend, the Jamaican television host Jodi Stewart.

Paul released two more albums titled “Full Frequency” and “Live N Livin” in 2014 and 2021, respectively. On these two albums, he collaborated with Damian Marley, Iggy Azalea, Nicki Minaj, 2 Chainz, and Juicy J, among others. He released his eighth album, “Scorcha,” in 2022. Paul has received numerous honours and awards for his musical contributions. Levi Blaze, his son, was born in 2017, and Remi Leigh Henriques, his daughter, was born in 2019.
