The Citi / AAdvantage Globe Mastercard offers lounge passes, free checked bags, preferred boarding and travel credits, making it a solid middle-level choice for regular American Airlines travelers.
Citi / AAdvantage Globe Mastercard: The Citi® / AAdvantage® Globe™ Mastercard® is built for people who fly American Airlines from time to time and want useful travel perks without jumping all the way to a premium card. Citi says the card has a $350 annual fee, gives 4 Admirals Club® Globe™ Passes each year, preferred boarding, first checked bag free on qualifying domestic American Airlines trips, and no foreign transaction fee.
TPG’s current review says the card sits in the middle of American Airlines’ card lineup. It is not the cheapest option, but it does offer more than an entry-level card. TPG rates it 3 stars and says it can make sense for semifrequent flyers who can actually use the perks.
Why Amex Gold Is Called The Best Lifestyle Card In 2026

One of the main draws is the annual companion certificate, but there is a catch. TPG says the certificate starts in the second cardholder year, and it is not valid on basic economy fares. The card’s benefits overview also says the certificate is for 2 guests at $99 each, plus taxes and fees. That makes it most useful on more expensive trips where the savings can be larger than the extra cost.
The lounge benefit is another nice one. Citi gives 4 Admirals Club® Globe™ Passes per year, and Citi says each one can help the cardmember access Admirals Club lounges. TPG adds that each pass is valid for 24 hours. For travelers who only need airport lounge access a few times a year, that can be a tidy little airport cushion.
The checked bag perk is also strong. Citi says the first checked bag is free on domestic American Airlines itineraries for the cardmember and up to 8 travel companions on the same reservation. TPG notes that this can add up fast, especially for families or paired travelers.
The card also comes with statement credits that can soften the annual fee. Citi says members can get up to $100 back each calendar year on inflight purchases and up to $100 each year as a Splurge Credit at select merchants such as 1stDibs, AAdvantage Hotels, Future Personal Training, and Live Nation. Citi also offers up to $30 per Turo rental, up to 8 times per year, and up to $120 for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck every 4 years.

There is also a status nudge built in. Citi says cardmembers earn 1 Loyalty Point for every eligible AAdvantage mile earned with the card. TPG also says the card gives a “Flight Streak” boost of 5,000 Loyalty Points after every four eligible American Airlines flights, up to 3 times per year. That can help people inch closer to elite status without flying extra miles just for the sake of it.
TPG’s view is that the earning rates are decent for AA spending, but weaker than many general travel cards. So the card works best when the goal is AAdvantage miles and Loyalty Points, not broad everyday rewards.
Currently, new applicants can earn 90,000 bonus miles after spending $5,000 in the first 4 months. TPG says that bonus is worth about $1,440 based on its May 2026 valuations, and the same page says AAdvantage miles are valued at 1.6 cents each as of May 2026.
Citi’s application rules also matter. Citi says you can apply even if you already have another AAdvantage card, but there are limits. Citi allows one new card every 8 days and no more than 2 new cards in 65 days. TPG also says approval can be helped if you move credit from another account when an application is pending.

Other cards can fit better if the Citi / AAdvantage Globe does not feel right for you.
There are also more American Airlines card choices in the full list of cards made for AA flyers.
TPG says the best fit is a semifrequent American Airlines traveler who can use the companion certificate, lounge passes, checked bag benefit, and credits to help cover the $350 annual fee. TPG also says the card is less appealing for people who want stronger earning, unlimited lounge access, or a cheaper way to collect AAdvantage miles. For those travelers, TPG points to the Platinum Select, the Executive card, or Citi Strata cards as alternatives.

One small warning sits right in the middle of the glitter: the companion certificate starts only in the second year, and it cannot be used on basic economy. That restriction can shrink the card’s sparkle for some people.
