After enrolling at Stanford University, Danson became interested in acting as a secure career. He relocated to Pittsburgh shortly after in 1972 to complete his education.

Danson appeared in several TV shows in one-off appearances and supporting roles. After landing the role of a bartender who was also a former baseball player in the N.B.C. series “Cheers,” Danson began to get more notoriety.
