AMU faculty member attends Confucian Studies Summer Institute programme

Mohammad Yasin, assistant professor of Chinese at Aligarh Muslim University’s Department of Foreign Languages, attended the “Confucian Studies Summer Institute 2023” hosted by the International Confucian Association and Beijing Foreign Studies University, China.

The Confucian Studies Summer Institute international programme 2023 provided instructors of Chinese history and culture with a chance to spend 13 days in Danyang City, Jiangsu Province, China to enhance their knowledge of Chinese philosophy and how it differs from Western philosophy.

The Summer Institute curriculum comprised ten sessions of cultural study classes taught in English, ten sessions of classes taught in Mandarin Chinese, cultural exchange, and two days of cultural practice classes taught in Suzhou and Zhenjiang.

Professor Roger T. Ames (Peking University), a renowned educator of comparative Chinese-Western philosophy, and Professor Tian Chenshan, Honorary Advisor of the International Confucian Association, were among the keynote presenters.

Mr. Yasin was one of the two sponsored participants from India, among the 58 Sinology and China Studies scholars and professors from 22 countries who participated in the program. He is a doctoral candidate at the Center for East Asian Studies, School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, as well as a recipient of the Institute of Chinese Studies-Harvard Yenching Institute Multi-Year PhD Fellowship.
