Heavy Ion Fusion Cross-sections: The Department of Physics, University of Allahabad, Prayagraj, in collaboration with the National Academy of Sciences, India, organised the “Meghnad Saha Memorial International Conference on Frontiers of Physics” (MSMICFP-2023). Prof. B. P. Singh, Aligarh Muslim University, gave a talk on “Heavy Ion Fusion Cross-sections: Understanding Fusion Hindrance from Astrophysical S-Factor.” At the conference, he presided over a technical session as well.

Prof. Singh discussed the complex dynamics of heavy ion-induced nuclear reactions and how important they are to solving cosmic riddles. In order to determine fusion cross-sections, he talked about using stacked foil activation techniques and precisely identifying fusion residues using distinctive gamma radiations.
