Debating Constitutional Changes: The Faculty of Law at Aligarh Muslim University hosted a virtual public lecture entitled “Debating Constitutional Change” that was live-streamed via the CISCO WebEx platform.
The Supreme Court of India’s Advocate Ashish Goel delved into the basic structure doctrine and its implications for the Indian Constitution without disturbing the Constitution’s essential essence while delivering a lecture on the current constitutional debate.

Earlier, in greeting the guest speaker, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Professor M.Z.M. Nomani, stated that the implied restriction on constitutional amendment is still relevant to the discussion of Indian constitutional development. He took the audience on a tour of several landmark decisions and touched on the discussion of constitutional amendments and their significance.
The online lecture was attended by lawyers and academics from all over the globe, among other participants.
